Raspberry Pi 5 represents a generational leap: the BCM2712 SoC delivers 2–3× the single-threaded performance of Pi 4, while native PCIe 2.0 enables NVMe SSDs, AI accelerators (HAT+) and LoRa concentrator cards without USB bottlenecks. The new RP1 south-bridge provides deterministic GPIO timing critical for precision sensor sampling.
